Should You Join Netboard.me?

Also known as, "Concerns about a site similar to Pinterest, but where you can actually earn money."

So, there's this site that is similar to Pinterest, but one of the major differences is that you can actually use ads and affiliate links on this site, so you can earn some money. Have you heard about this site?

I just found out about it recently. Like I just said, it looks pretty similar to Pinterest in that you can share articles, pics, etc. It's like having your own personal webpage, and it's all for free.

According to the site, you can create as many boards as you want. There are no limits. Plus, you can even make money by using Chitika ads and Amazon affiliate links on your pages. You can also personalize the look of your boards, making it look like the way you want it to.

Okay, what is this site? It's called Netboard.me.

Is Netboard.me Too Good to Be True?

Sounds pretty cool, right? True. It does sound good. But, could it be that it's too good to be true? What's the catch? Well, I honestly don't know. I've thought about joining or creating an account on Netboard.me, but I haven't done so yet. Why not? Is something wrong with this site?

Well, I don't really know. And that's the point. I was trying to find more info about this site, but couldn't really find much of anything. I can see some example public boards, and they all look pretty nice and all that, but *shrug*.

Plus, I have to wonder how much traffic this site is getting because, even if you can monetize the pages that you create on Netboard.me, if you're not going to be getting much traffic anyway, then, well, you're not gonna be earning much, if any, at all.

You know what's really funny? I hate terms and policies that are way too long and full of so much legal jargon. It's such a drag to have to read through these things. It's like these sites want to bore you to death or something. LOL 😃.

So, is that the issue with Netboard.me then? Their long and boring TOS? Nope. They actually have a pretty short terms of service and privacy policy page. In fact, it's so short that those two have been combined in a single page. And that's what's funny.

I hate long TOS, but I can't help but feel kind of (okay, maybe more than just kind of 😃) suspicious when I see sites with very short terms and policies. It's because all sites usually have very long legal documents for you to read. Of course, some (very few, really) actually try to make it easier for you to read through this stuff like providing annotations, etc.

I may hate the long TOS and privacy policy pages, but it can be a good indication if a site is legit or not, right? The terms and policies need to mention things like what the site is going to do to your data and info, how they'll make sure that your data will be kept safe and secure, it should also include stuff about disclaimers and liabilities and warranties, it should tell you where your data is being processed, the governing laws and jurisdiction that the site is following, etc, etc.

Well, Netboard.me's TOS page is severely lacking though precisely because it's so short. For instance, where is this site located anyway? If you compare this to the Pinterest TOS, for example, you'll see right away that the Pinterest terms is governed by the laws of California, United States of America (USA).

If you look at other TOS, you'll find information like that too. For example, the Tumblr TOS mentions following the laws of New York, USA. Netboard.me doesn't mention anything though. So, it comes across as really quite suspicious.

What do you think? Do you know anything about this site? Are you planning to join it? If you're already a part of this site, what can you say about it? How is it working out for you?

I've also only just recently heard about it. It seems to be new and it seems that there are only a few members as well. Am also interested in finding out more info about this site before joining especially considering their incomplete TOS.

Keep us informed of your findings if you do decide to check it out :-). It seems that this site is pretty new or, at least, it's not getting all that much traffic considering not many know about it.

Yes, I am also reluctant about joining the site considering the points I mentioned above in the post. It would be nice to find out more info about it. Besides, it does kind of sound too good to be true, right? You can make as many boards as you like and you can add ads and affiliate links on those boards and it's all for free so, what's the catch, right?

Very few and none of them address or mention the concerns I talked about here. Still looking for more info about this. It looks like not many know about the existence of this site. Have you checked it out yet?

Yeah, it does seem to be new. I've already searched around but couldn't really find much about this site. Am also concerned about their TOS, which appears to be too short and doesn't include all the necessary info and details that legit sites have. Plus, the services being offered by the site seems too good to be true - you can create as many boards as you want and you can add ads and affiliate links to these board and it's all for free.

Yeah. I prefer to read everything I can about a site before joining - reviews, TOS, FAQ, rules, etc. Everything has to be legit so you won't end up getting ripped off or something.

What Does "Pinned By Pinner" And Other Pinterest Terms And Phrases Mean?

I'm so new to Pinterest that I'm still confused especially with the new terms and phrases that can only be found on the site. Can the Pinterest experts (also known as everyone who has an account there 😃) help please?

I tried to search for this info, but I'm not really getting or finding anything useful. Am hoping that there are some who get what these stuff mean or can explain for the benefit of the newbies out there, or for those who don't know. I even looked through all the Pinterest help pages (yeah, read them all), but didn't see any explanation about any of this.

Okay, let's start. Here are some of the phrases and terms I've seen on Pinterest so far. Can anyone tell me what they mean?

• "Pinned by pinner"
• "Pinned from [site name here]"
• "Uploaded by"
• "Added by [Username here] via [someone else's Pinterest username]"

Anyone know anything about these terms? Initially, I thought the "pinned by pinner" was the original pinner, but then what about "uploaded by" then? What about those who repin pins on Pinterest? What are they called then?

I'm new to Pinterest, having just recently created an account, so am still learning about it and only have a few pins so far. I'm not always there either due to being busy. Not all the images there are for sale, but there are some that are though I don't know if anyone is bothering to buy them. Some say Pinterest can be a good source of traffic though I don't know 'bout that either since I'm new there.

How To Repin Pins On Pinterest?

Help! Please? So, finally got 'round to creating an account on Pinterest and am a little confused. It looks pretty okay so far, but I'm confused when it comes to repinning stuff from there.

Searching for info

I looked around for info on how to repin pins on Pinterest, but I don't think I'm seeing the latest info. Some of the tutorials are talking about getting an invite to join Pinterest while some of the screenshot images shown looked way different from what I'm seeing in my account.

Cannot see "repin" button

Is there such a thing as the "repin" button? That's what some of the tutorials mentioned and some of the screenshots showed the existence of this button, which I can't find on my Pinterest account or on any of the pins and images I'm seeing on that site.

Can only see "pin it" button

When I hover my mouse on a pin on Pinterest, I can see a red "pin it" button. Clicking on that apparently lets me add a description and then pin an image to a board. So is that how you repin then? How are you supposed to know if a pin is the original pin or if it's the repin then? Does anyone know?

I mentioned this in the post 😃. I already searched Google, but the info I found was outdated. The screenshot images on those articles showed a "repin" button, which no longer exists on the Pinterest site. Looks like no one has written new Pinterest guides for 2015.

I have a Pinterest account, but in all honesty I don't know much about it and rarely use it. All I know is that you have to have a picture in order to pin anything. That probably doesn't help you much :/

Questions About Pinterest

Do you have or do you know any articles about Pinterest? Do you know anything about this site? Care to share the location of these articles?

But only articles where the writer responds to the comments and questions because aren’t you sick of taking the time and effort to leave a relevant message or question to an article only to receive absolutely no response at all even after waiting for weeks? Looking for anyone who knows, can help, or has info about Pinterest?

The questions are:

What are you allowed to pin on Pinterest?

If you see an image with a pin it button, does that mean that you’re free to pin the pic or do you have to double-check if it’s copyrighted or whatever? Does everyone on Pinterest do that?

What are you allowed to repin on Pinterest?

If you see an image already pinned on the Pinterest website, are you allowed to repin that pic, assuming the original pinner already did their research and confirmed that the photo was okay to pin or do you have to double-check?

Where should the pinned pic on Pinterest link to?

If you see an image on an article and said pic is either in the public domain or has the creative commons license and you decide to pin that picture, where should the photograph link to? Should the pinned pic link back to the article where you found it or to the place where the article author found the pic (like flickr or Wikimedia Commons)?

Many people refuse to pin work or have Pinterest accounts or allow pinning from their sites because they believe Pinterest members don't respect copyrights. Read the Pinterest terms of service and it should answer your questions about that. I know some people don't want their work pinned because they are afraid it will be stolen.

I personally like the site and i'm not afraid of it. It's a great place to pin the photos that appear in your articles. After you pin something, you will have the option of seeing it immediately. if you do that, you can open your pin in edit mode and you'll see the link target. You can change if if necessary. If there is copyright information you want people to see, you can put it into the description of the pin, as well as the link you'd like people to use. Keep in mind, though, that those who repin can change your description or your link when they edit it. Affiliate referrals don't always keep their codes intact.

Just use pin-it to pin the photo and it should automatically link back to the article where it appeared. If it doesn't, you can change the link by editing the link. The article will have the photo credit.

As far as what you can or can't pin, anything that you want to share and that is appropriate can be pinned. Some content may violate the Pinterest terms, but I think most sites have the same rules about that. No p0rn or $exually explicit content, no glorifying drugs, tobacco products, alcohol, gambling, etc., no hate speech, no scams. Otherwise, it's probably safe. Do be careful to follow the rules of the site whose content you want to pin, as well. For example, Bubblews allows users to pin content - but only one pin per post.

The link should be taken care of by Pinterest if you're using their add-on. It automatically links to the page where the image is displayed. If you add a pin manually, that's where you should link too.

This does help. 😃 Just to clarify something though - for example, I see an image in an article here on Persona Paper and that image has the creative commons license or is in the public domain (for example, it could be located on flickr, deviantArt, Wikimedia Commons, etc) and I decide to pin that image manually. Where should that pin link to? Should it link to the article here on Persona Paper or should it link to the site where the image originally came from? Thanks.

I didn't find a guide there, though there was a disclaimer (twice - slightly different wording) and a useful tutorial for finding the original source of an image in a pin. Thanks for sharing! I hadn't found Virginia on Pinterest 😃
