Should You Join Netboard.me?

Thursday, January 3, 2019
Also known as, "Concerns about a site similar to Pinterest, but where you can actually earn money."

So, there's this site that is similar to Pinterest, but one of the major differences is that you can actually use ads and affiliate links on this site, so you can earn some money. Have you heard about this site?

Informational Articles, Reviews, Pinterest, Social Media, Netboard.me, social networking site, visual bookmarking site

I just found out about it recently. Like I just said, it looks pretty similar to Pinterest in that you can share articles, pics, etc. It's like having your own personal webpage, and it's all for free.

Info About Site Similar to Pinterest

According to the site, you can create as many boards as you want. There are no limits. Plus, you can even make money by using Chitika ads and Amazon affiliate links on your pages. You can also personalize the look of your boards, making it look like the way you want it to.

Okay, what is this site? It's called Netboard.me.

Is Netboard.me Too Good to Be True?

Sounds pretty cool, right? True. It does sound good. But, could it be that it's too good to be true? What's the catch? Well, I honestly don't know. I've thought about joining or creating an account on Netboard.me, but I haven't done so yet. Why not? Is something wrong with this site?

Where to Find More Info About Netboard.me?

Well, I don't really know. And that's the point. I was trying to find more info about this site, but couldn't really find much of anything. I can see some example public boards, and they all look pretty nice and all that, but *shrug*.

Plus, I have to wonder how much traffic this site is getting because, even if you can monetize the pages that you create on Netboard.me, if you're not going to be getting much traffic anyway, then, well, you're not gonna be earning much, if any, at all.

Netboard.me Terms of Service and Privacy Policy

And I also have to wonder about Netboard.me's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

You know what's really funny? I hate terms and policies that are way too long and full of so much legal jargon. It's such a drag to have to read through these things. It's like these sites want to bore you to death or something. LOL 😃.

So, is that the issue with Netboard.me then? Their long and boring TOS? Nope. They actually have a pretty short terms of service and privacy policy page. In fact, it's so short that those two have been combined in a single page. And that's what's funny.

I hate long TOS, but I can't help but feel kind of (okay, maybe more than just kind of 😃) suspicious when I see sites with very short terms and policies. It's because all sites usually have very long legal documents for you to read. Of course, some (very few, really) actually try to make it easier for you to read through this stuff like providing annotations, etc.

I may hate the long TOS and privacy policy pages, but it can be a good indication if a site is legit or not, right? The terms and policies need to mention things like what the site is going to do to your data and info, how they'll make sure that your data will be kept safe and secure, it should also include stuff about disclaimers and liabilities and warranties, it should tell you where your data is being processed, the governing laws and jurisdiction that the site is following, etc, etc.

Well, Netboard.me's TOS page is severely lacking though precisely because it's so short. For instance, where is this site located anyway? If you compare this to the Pinterest TOS, for example, you'll see right away that the Pinterest terms is governed by the laws of California, United States of America (USA).

If you look at other TOS, you'll find information like that too. For example, the Tumblr TOS mentions following the laws of New York, USA. Netboard.me doesn't mention anything though. So, it comes across as really quite suspicious.

Your Thoughts and Opinions

What do you think? Do you know anything about this site? Are you planning to join it? If you're already a part of this site, what can you say about it? How is it working out for you?

Here are some of the comments from this article, back when it used to be posted elsewhere:

You're mention here is the first I've heard of this Pinterest-like site. I'll be interested to see what others have to say and whether anyone is already on-board with the site.

FreyaYuki replied to Feisty56 on February 28, 2015, 1:03 PM
I've also only just recently heard about it. It seems to be new and it seems that there are only a few members as well. Am also interested in finding out more info about this site before joining especially considering their incomplete TOS.

LeaPea2417 wrote on February 27, 2015, 11:12 AM
I have not heard of this site before. I may check it out and try to learn more about it.

FreyaYuki replied to LeaPea2417 on February 28, 2015, 1:09 PM
Keep us informed of your findings if you do decide to check it out :-). It seems that this site is pretty new or, at least, it's not getting all that much traffic considering not many know about it.

nbaquero wrote on February 27, 2015, 1:10 PM
FreyaYuki I never heard of this site, but I would not join right away. It seems that is has been around for about a year or so.

FreyaYuki replied to nbaquero on February 28, 2015, 1:11 PM
Yes, I am also reluctant about joining the site considering the points I mentioned above in the post. It would be nice to find out more info about it. Besides, it does kind of sound too good to be true, right? You can make as many boards as you like and you can add ads and affiliate links on those boards and it's all for free so, what's the catch, right?

nbaquero replied to FreyaYuki on February 28, 2015, 7:05 PM
FreyaYuki exactly, what is the catch? Have you seen/read any site reviews?

FreyaYuki replied to nbaquero on March 3, 2015, 10:32 AM
Very few and none of them address or mention the concerns I talked about here. Still looking for more info about this. It looks like not many know about the existence of this site. Have you checked it out yet?

nbaquero replied to FreyaYuki on March 5, 2015, 11:59 AM
FreyaYuki I did look at their site, but wasn't really impressed.

thisnthat wrote on February 27, 2015, 2:59 PM
Interesting idea for a site. I think I'll give it a look. Thanks for mentioning it. If I join, I'll come back and let you know.

FreyaYuki replied to thisnthat on February 28, 2015, 1:12 PM
You're welcome 😃. Keep us informed about what happens if you do decide to join the site and what other info you may find about it.

BrenndaMarie wrote on February 27, 2015, 5:47 PM
Many if you give it sometime you will be able to find more information about it. I have never heard of it before. It sounds like it is a fairly new site.

FreyaYuki replied to BrenndaMarie on February 28, 2015, 1:18 PM
Yeah, it does seem to be new. I've already searched around but couldn't really find much about this site. Am also concerned about their TOS, which appears to be too short and doesn't include all the necessary info and details that legit sites have. Plus, the services being offered by the site seems too good to be true - you can create as many boards as you want and you can add ads and affiliate links to these board and it's all for free.

GemstonePink wrote on February 27, 2015, 7:20 PM
I usually read all the online reviews I can find regarding a site. If I cannot find reviews then I wait until one pops up.

FreyaYuki replied to GemstonePink on February 28, 2015, 1:19 PM
Yes. Same here. I prefer to read reviews and all the other info I can find about a site before deciding to join it.

scheng1 wrote on March 1, 2015, 1:37 AM
I rather not touch any new site until it has been established.

FreyaYuki replied to scheng1 on March 3, 2015, 10:52 AM
Yeah. I prefer to read everything I can about a site before joining - reviews, TOS, FAQ, rules, etc. Everything has to be legit so you won't end up getting ripped off or something.

arthurchappell wrote on March 2, 2015, 12:19 PM
worth monitoring the site for a while to see how it goes and forums fill with either praise or anger to them

FreyaYuki replied to arthurchappell on March 3, 2015, 10:52 AM
Yup. Am also planning to do that. Won't be joining the site yet until there is more info about it.

Should You Create A Google+ Profile Or Page?

Monday, December 10, 2018
So, I'm trying to decide if I should create a Google+ profile or page. Any ideas? Yeah, I know, I know. I don't have a Google+ account yet; I'm so late to the party. LOL 😃. I wonder if I'm the only one.

google+ profile, google+ page, social media, informational articles
This was made using Persona Paper's poll feature

Anyway, what do you guys (that would be all those who have a G+ account, which, I suppose, is everyone here. LOL) think? Do you have a Google+ profile or page? Which one would you recommend creating? Should you make one of them or both?

I looked into this before, like the differences between the 2, etc, but it's still sort-of confusing. I mean, I can't decide which one I should go with. From the looks of things, it wouldn’t matter which one, but how do you know which one is the best, right? Or am I actually getting something wrong here?

Are you supposed to have a profile first before you can create a page? Or can you choose from the get-go which one to go with? Any ideas? For all the Google+ users out there, how is this social networking site? Is it fun? Are you enjoying yourself? Or does it feel like a chore?

Feel free to share your thoughts and opinions by leaving a comment or by answering the poll below.

FreyaYuki replied to scheng1 on March 15, 2015, 12:27 PM
Ah, I see. I've heard that Google+ can be a good source of traffic. Some people say they make use of it to share their articles and other stuff and some do say that this is effective.

j2jworkz wrote on March 14, 2015, 10:59 AM
Am still looking at G+ , am wrestling w the same questions. Have one somewhat set up for biz.

FreyaYuki replied to j2jworkz on March 15, 2015, 12:39 PM
Ah, I see. Was the one that you set up a Google+ page or profile?

crowntower wrote on March 14, 2015, 11:04 AM
I have one because I used it for my personal blog. But can you make an account right now? because I a trying to create one again last night but I think there is a problem... because I can't get through.

FreyaYuki replied to crowntower on March 15, 2015, 12:49 PM
Did you make a Google+ profile or Google+ page for your personal blog? Or both? I'm not sure if you're allowed to have more than 1 Google+ account. Maybe you're only supposed to have 1 and that's why you can't create a new one? Not sure though. Hopefully, others who know about this issue can chime in with some information.

nbaquero wrote on March 14, 2015, 11:23 AM
Freyayuki I think you create a profile first, and then the Page. Afterwards you select which will be your primary place for posts and updates (the Profile or the Page).

FreyaYuki replied to nbaquero on March 15, 2015, 12:57 PM
Ah, I see. Thanks so much for the info. Appreciate it 😃. Do you use the profile or the page to share your posts? Which one would you recommend - the profile or the page?

cmoneyspinner wrote on March 14, 2015, 12:04 PM

FreyaYuki replied to iimouto on March 15, 2015, 1:16 PM
Ah, I see. So, you don't use Google+ anymore? I heard that it can be a good source of traffic though and some say that they've had some success with it.

MelissaE wrote on March 14, 2015, 1:55 PM
I created my profile first. I use my profile for many different website accounts. I have a Google Blog and a Google Plus. I use Plus to promote my business. I think the quality of posts on Plus is higher than on Facebook.

FreyaYuki replied to MelissaE on March 15, 2015, 1:26 PM
Thanks for the helpful info 😃. So you only have a Google+ profile and no Google+ page? So all you really need is a profile then? Even if you have no page, it doesn't matter? I'm currently working on a Google Blogger blog too.

CoralLevang wrote on March 14, 2015, 4:52 PM
I have had G+ for quite a long time, but don't know how to use it effectively. I think now is the time to figure it all out.

FreyaYuki replied to CoralLevang on March 16, 2015, 11:36 AM
Did you make a Google+ profile or page or both? Yeah, I heard that you can get good traffic from Google+ if used effectively.

CoralLevang replied to FreyaYuki on March 16, 2015, 11:42 AM
It was attached to my Gmail account. I do not know that one is not exclusive of the other. That probably means I have a page. Not sure of the profile. I need to investigate.

Question About Google+ And Stuff To Know About The Persona Paper Image Wizard, Pixabay, & URL Links

Saturday, December 8, 2018
Anyone know anything about Google+? LOL. Okay, maybe that shouldn't be the question that I'm asking. Because everyone knows about Google+, right? Am I the only one who doesn't have a Google+ account? Yeah, I know, I'm so late to the party. But, hey, what's new? LOL.

Informational Articles, Persona Paper, Reviews, Writing Sites, Social Media, Google+

So, anyway, to all the Google+ experts out there (read: that means you or pretty much anyone and everyone who has an account on that site)-

Should you make a Google+ Profile or a Google+ Page? Or both? Or do you need a profile first before being able to make a page? Or, if you actually get a choice about this, which one are you supposed to choose - the page or the profile?

Something to take note of: so, I tried to use the image wizard here on Persona Paper again. I typed "Google+" in the search bar to look for pics from Pixabay, but I got an error. See screenshot below.

Informational Articles, Persona Paper, Reviews, Writing Sites, Social Media, Google+,

I then removed the + sign, so I was only searching for "Google". Surprisingly, I no longer got an error. I then tried with the plus sign again, and I got the same error. Again. So, it looks like we can't use symbols on the Pixabay search bar here on Persona Paper.

Another note: there's a reason I added Google Plus in parenthesis as part of this post's title. It's because, without it, the URL of the article looks like this: question-about-google which isn't right at all since the question is about Google+ and not just Google.

With the addition of the words in parenthesis, the article gets this URL: question-about-google-google-plus. While I don't like the repetition of the word "google", at least, the plus is actually there.

Note: I do get why the + sign won't appear in the URL. If I could edit the URL, I'd be using the word "plus" too. I'd just remove the second "google" since it's redundant to have it there twice.

If you remove the "google" in the parenthesis in the title, that second "google" in the URL will disappear too, but it's weird to just say "plus" in parenthesis, isn't it?

Well, actually, it's weird to bother including the words in parenthesis since everyone should know what Google+ means, but I had to add it here for the URL.

Ideally, it should be something like this:
Title: Question About Google+
URL link address: question-about-google-plus

So, what do you think? And does anyone know the answer to my question about Google+?

Final note: decided to change the title, so don't be confused if you don't see the double "google" or the "plus" in the URL link. LOL.

UK_Writer wrote on March 2, 2015, 1:42 PM
I created a G+ page, originally for the "B" site, then decided to also stick my "H" site writing there, then I joined D2C and used it for those too - and now I post my PP pieces there too. I figured I needed to keep all this writing stuff separate from anything else (hence the page) - and if/as you change sites you're not starting/abandoning pages all the time.

The issue re using the plus sign is an annoyance on many levels.....

While I do share some of my writing here, overall it's really not worthy of the time it takes. I probably post 5/week from PP to Gplus

Be careful with that linking to D2C, it could be flagged as you spamming/linking if it's your writing there. I don't link to anything from here - too much hassle

I got a warning here for putting in a referral link to join this site!

FreyaYuki replied to UK_Writer on March 3, 2015, 11:25 AM
Thanks for all the helpful info 😃. So, you have both a Google+ Profile and a Google+ Page, but you only use the page for sharing the articles that you write on different sites?

Yeah, I found the plus sign issue annoying too. In the end, I decided to just change my title even if the word "plus" no longer appears in the URL link. At least "Google" is still there.

Thanks. I didn't know that. I sometimes include links to other articles on my posts here and haven't experienced a problem. I think the link limit is 3. At least, I usually just include 3 links per post (if there are relevant and related articles to include).

Usually, I just interlink Persona Paper articles to each other though I've noticed that all the links you add are nofollowed even if you're linking to Persona Paper, which is odd, to say the least.

It is definitely odd to get a warning here for putting your referral link to join Persona Paper. Could it be a glitch? Did you have to contact the admin about it?

Questions About LinkedIn And IC3

Tuesday, November 6, 2018
Is there anyone here who has a LinkedIn account? Mind if I ask a question 😃? I'm starting to look into LinkedIn and am just wondering - If I decide to create an account on LinkedIn, can I use a pen name or pseudonym?

Also, how is LinkedIn working out for you? Do you find it useful or helpful to you? Would you recommend this social media site?

bubblews, writing site, informational article, questions, linkedin, social media, ic3, internet crime complaint center

Okay, that's about it for this topic. Now, on to the next one. IC3 stands for Internet Crime Complaint Center. Heard somewhere that you can maybe use this to complain about or report the-site-that-shall-not-be-named (you-know-who I'm talking about. LOL. If not, I mean Bubblews). If we're talking about that site, then anyone can file a complaint regardless of location.

Anyway, am wondering if anyone has tried this before? How is the whole process of filing? What exactly do you need to do? What do you need to say?

Am also wondering if what we experienced on the-site-that-shall-not-be-named is something that we can complain about or report to the IC3? What do you think?

They did just erase all the money they owe their members with one announcement. They said the money we earned didn't exist. Their TOS says they won't change things retroactively, but they did it anyway, etc.

So, could any of that be classified as fraud or as a crime or something? Anyone know anything? Still looking for more info, so, if anyone knows anything, care to share 😃?

Here are some of the comments from this article, back when it used to be posted elsewhere:

I think LinkedIn is most useful for people wanting to make business contacts. I think of it as a site for professionals who want to network and have a place to check into possible employers or employees. I haven't found it particularly useful for me yet, but many of my writing friends use it. Maybe some of them will chime in. I would not use a pseudonym there, since it's primarily for business networking.

FreyaYuki replied to BarbRad on January 25, 2015, 1:51 PM
Thanks for the info. Am trying to research and find out more about this. I did hear that it can be a good site like the other social networking ones out there like Twitter, Pinterest, etc.

Oh, so it's okay for us to use a pen name on LinkedIn? Was thinking of creating an account there using a pen name or pseudonym, but wondered if that was allowed or not and wanted to see if there were members of that site who used pen names too.

Questions About Twitter Tweet Schedulers

Thursday, September 27, 2018
Also known as, "Twitter Experts: Need Some Help About Tweet Schedulers". The alternate title means you, by the way. Yup, pretty much anyone who's got an account on Twitter is totally an expert. Except me. LOL 😃. Still pretty new there actually. But I won't bore you with the details. Let's just get straight to the heart of the matter, which is that I'd like to ask something Twitter-related. Hope there's someone out there who knows the answer.

twitter, social media, social networking, tweet scheduler, schedule tweets, buffer, tweetdeck, twitter ads, hootsuite, socialoomph

Scheduling Tweets or Tweet Scheduler

Did you know that there's such a thing as a tweet scheduler? Apparently, you can pre-schedule your tweets so that, even if you're busy or even if you don't have access to your Twitter account at the moment, you can still tweet. Your scheduled tweets will automatically be sent or tweeted depending on the date and time you specify. Super useful and cool, isn't it?

The problem is that there are way too many applications that offer this awesome feature. Well, that's a good thing too, so you can have lots of choices, but with so many to choose from, how do you know which one to pick? There are free ones and paid ones and ones that have both a free and paid version. Even the free ones are aplenty, and, aside from trying to pick the best, there's also the matter of security to consider.

For instance, some of the apps I've checked out so far (note: I'm talking about the page you get to where you can authorize an app to access your Twitter account) say that they can:

  • Read my tweets
  • See who I follow
  • Follow people for me
  • Update my profile for me
  • Post tweets for me - this is the only thing that a tweet scheduler should be allowed to do

Needless to say, after seeing all that, it made me think twice about letting some app access my Twitter account. I mean, the only thing a tweet scheduler app should be doing is posting tweets for me, right? So, how come they can do all those other things as well? What does any of that have to do with pre-scheduling tweets? Does anyone know of an app that lets you schedule tweets for free, but that doesn't try to do things it isn't supposed to do (like updating your profile for you)?

Twitter Ads Tweet Scheduler

I also heard about Twitter ads while I was researching about tweet schedulers. Apparently, Twitter ads has this feature too. I've heard that the tweet scheduler is free (if you only use the organic or regular tweet and not the promoted tweet), but can anyone confirm this for sure because Twitter ads is supposed to be for people who want to promote their tweets (you have to pay money to get your tweets distributed to other Twitter members)?

Twitter TweetDeck

I also found out about Twitter TweetDeck, which is apparently part of Twitter now. It's got a tweet scheduler, but it also has other features. Aside from a web app, there's a Chrome app, and you can also download a Windows and Mac version as well. Does anyone know anything more about this? Is it free? Have you tried this?

What do you think?

So, what about you? Do you use a tweet scheduler? What free app can you recommend?

Edited to add: as mentioned in the comments below, I've decided to go with Buffer. It's free, but they also offer a paid version. Their customer service is excellent. And it's pretty easy to use.

Here are some of the comments from this article, back when it used to be posted elsewhere:

MsBiz wrote on February 4, 2015, 4:06 PM:
I've heard of some of these programs, but am wary. I thought Twitter was supposed to be about conversations. It seems like it would be easy to fall into "all posts, no responses," but maybe I'm wrong...

FreyaYuki replied to MsBiz on February 7, 2015, 9:55 AM:
I'm wary because of some of the things these programs are asking for or what they can do like being able to follow people for you, etc. I think this can be helpful every once in a while like you can't always be on Twitter all the time, so if you're lacking time or if you're going to be busy, then you can try to pre-schedule your tweets.

JeanC wrote on February 4, 2015, 4:50 PM:
I use Buffer to schedule my tweets. I haven't upgraded to the paid version, so i am limited to 11 buffered tweets at a time. It also posts to my google+ account, I have been very happy with it.

https://bufferapp.com

FreyaYuki replied to JeanC on February 7, 2015, 9:58 AM:
Thanks for the suggestion. I've seen Buffer too. It was actually one of the apps I saw that was asking for all the info I mentioned in my post. I found their Twitter account, so I asked them about this. How is the app then? Is it following people for you or doing things it's not supposed to?

melody23 wrote on February 4, 2015, 6:14 PM:
I use socialoomph and I really like it, another popular one is hootsuite. You can save draft tweets and shorten your links directly in socialoomph and it also has a cool tracking statistics page which takes a bit of tweaking to get right but is a very useful feature (you have to use the correct link shortener, there are two but only one tracks). These apps need these permissions to do all of the other stuff they can do, rather than schedule tweets and although you might never use the other features you need to allow that access to use the app at all if that makes sense.

FreyaYuki replied to melody23 on February 7, 2015, 10:16 AM:
Have not heard of socialoomph. Will look into it. Thanks for the info about it. I heard of hootsuite, but I thought it was a paid version only. Ah, I see. I will look into all this further. I found the Twitter account of Buffer app who also asks for all the things I mentioned and I sent them a quick tweet asking why they need all those things.

BarbRad wrote on February 4, 2015, 7:05 PM:
I used Tweetdeck when I first started on Twitter, but it used so many resources on my computer I stopped using it. I don't think it could schedule tweets back then anyway. I most often use the free version of Hootsuite, since they don't limit how many tweets I can schedule and they allow me to handle all my twitter accounts in one place. I recently added the free version of Buffer to make it easier to have photos open in the feed. Hootsuite's free version won't do that, but Buffer's free version will only work with one account.

So I use Buffer to supplement Hootsuite with my main account. If you use any of these, be sure to get the apps that let you add links from your toolbar. In Hootsuite, it's called the Hootlet. It lets me share a link to several accounts at once and auto schedule them or to share separately to different accounts at any time I choose. If you want to attach a photo, though, you have to do it from within Twitter itself if you want it to open in the feed, or you can use Buffer, but that limits you to just one account.

FreyaYuki replied to BarbRad on February 7, 2015, 10:32 AM:
Thanks so much for the detailed info 😃. I will look into Hootsuite. I heard about Buffer, but this was one of the apps asking for too much info. I did find their Twitter account, so have asked them about this. Both these apps seem very useful though.

BarbRad replied to FreyaYuki on February 8, 2015, 1:18 PM:
I have used Hootsuite for years, and whatever they may have asked for, I've never seen any abuses of any permissions I may have given them.

FreyaYuki replied to BarbRad on February 8, 2015, 3:39 PM:
Thanks. I've decided to go with Buffer for now. I asked them about the permissions their app wanted and they actually took the time to respond. I appreciate the good customer service.

I tweet, but I don't use a scheduler. I get on Twitter about once a day. I don't know that I want to use a scheduler.

FreyaYuki replied to MelissaE on February 7, 2015, 10:36 AM:
I'm also on Twitter about once a day, but there are days when I can't tweet, so I thought about using a scheduler for those days.

FreyaYuki replied to bestwriter on February 7, 2015, 10:37 AM:
I'm pretty new there so only have a few followers so far. And I'm not always there either. I thought I'd try to be more active there.

I've actually made some friendships on Twitter. I try to retweet and reply often.

FreyaYuki replied to MelissaE on February 8, 2015, 3:46 PM:
I try to retweet a lot too. But I find it's not easy to find interesting stuff to retweet since I'm new and only following a few people so far.

allen0187 wrote on February 11, 2015, 10:33 PM:
I use Twitter daily and have heard about these tweet schedulers. I have not used any of these. Anyway, it seems like a good idea to have one or two of some of the apps mentioned in the comments below. I guess I'll check Hootsuite and Buffer.

FreyaYuki replied to allen0187 on February 12, 2015, 10:23 AM:
I suggest going with Buffer. I just joined, and, while I'm having a few issues with it, their customer service is excellent and they're very helpful. Plus, I asked them about all the things you're supposed to authorize their app to do and they gave a satisfactory response about it.

What Does "Pinned By Pinner" And Other Pinterest Terms And Phrases Mean?

Monday, September 17, 2018
I'm so new to Pinterest that I'm still confused especially with the new terms and phrases that can only be found on the site. Can the Pinterest experts (also known as everyone who has an account there 😃) help please?

pinterest, social media, visual bookmarking site, questions about pinterest terms and phrases, pinned by pinner, uploaded by, added by, pinned from

I tried to search for this info, but I'm not really getting or finding anything useful. Am hoping that there are some who get what these stuff mean or can explain for the benefit of the newbies out there, or for those who don't know. I even looked through all the Pinterest help pages (yeah, read them all), but didn't see any explanation about any of this.

Okay, let's start. Here are some of the phrases and terms I've seen on Pinterest so far. Can anyone tell me what they mean?

  • "Pinned by pinner"
  • "Pinned from [site name here]"
  • "Uploaded by"
  • "Added by [Username here] via [someone else's Pinterest username]"

Anyone know anything about these terms? Initially, I thought the "pinned by pinner" was the original pinner, but then what about "uploaded by" then? What about those who repin pins on Pinterest? What are they called then?

Here are some of the comments from this article, back when it used to be posted elsewhere:

Oceanblue wrote on January 10, 2015, 5:06 PM:
Hi, I can't really help as there are so many different terms on each and every site. Good luck with your search.

FreyaYuki replied to Oceanblue on January 11, 2015, 2:13 PM:
Thanks. Yeah, I'm new to Pinterest, having just recently joined, so all the new terms and phrases there still confuse me.

Vickiw wrote on January 10, 2015, 5:55 PM:
Sorry, I can't help you. I'm definitely not up to date on Pinterest!

FreyaYuki replied to Vickiw on January 11, 2015, 2:16 PM:
That's okay. I'm super new to Pinterest too. Just recently joined. Hope there's someone who knows the answers like the long-time users of the site.

BarbRad wrote on January 11, 2015, 3:26 AM:
I use Pinterest, but some of those terms stump me, too. Uploaded by is the only one I'm pretty sure of, and I suppose that would be if someone uploads a photo to her board.

FreyaYuki replied to BarbRad on January 11, 2015, 2:22 PM:
Ah, I see. I wonder what the other terms mean... Really new there, so still learning how it all works.

bestwriter wrote on February 5, 2015, 1:25 AM:
When you want to share there every other site does it easily but pinterest has its own long drawn process. I have stopped going there. I do not even know the benefits of this site. Is anyone buying those images I wonder.

FreyaYuki replied to bestwriter on February 7, 2015, 9:11 AM:
I'm new to Pinterest, having just recently created an account, so am still learning about it and only have a few pins so far. I'm not always there either due to being busy. Not all the images there are for sale, but there are some that are though I don't know if anyone is bothering to buy them. Some say Pinterest can be a good source of traffic though I don't know 'bout that either since I'm new there.

bestwriter replied to FreyaYuki on February 7, 2015, 6:20 PM:
What I have found out about sites such as zazzle, pinterest is that members have hopes. But I wonder if it is worth spending time there.

FreyaYuki replied to bestwriter on February 8, 2015, 4:19 PM:
I've heard that some make good money with Zazzle and sites like Zazzle. So, I suppose it's worth it for those people.

How To Repin Pins On Pinterest?

Friday, September 7, 2018
Help! Please? So, finally got 'round to creating an account on Pinterest and am a little confused. It looks pretty okay so far, but I'm confused when it comes to repinning stuff from there.

pinterest, social media, visual bookmarking site, questions about repinning images, tutorial, how to repin pins on pinterest

Searching for info

I looked around for info on how to repin pins on Pinterest, but I don't think I'm seeing the latest info. Some of the tutorials are talking about getting an invite to join Pinterest while some of the screenshot images shown looked way different from what I'm seeing in my account.

Cannot see "repin" button

Is there such a thing as the "repin" button? That's what some of the tutorials mentioned and some of the screenshots showed the existence of this button, which I can't find on my Pinterest account or on any of the pins and images I'm seeing on that site.

Can only see "pin it" button

When I hover my mouse on a pin on Pinterest, I can see a red "pin it" button. Clicking on that apparently lets me add a description and then pin an image to a board. So is that how you repin then? How are you supposed to know if a pin is the original pin or if it's the repin then? Does anyone know?

Here are some of the comments from this article, back when it used to be posted elsewhere:

Kasman wrote on January 10, 2015, 3:04 PM:
Pinterest and the way it operates has changed over time. There isn't a 'Repin' button. You should us the 'Pin It' button to chose an image to pin to your own board.

FreyaYuki replied to Kasman on January 11, 2015, 2:45 PM:
Thanks 😃. Was wondering about this since the tutorial screenshots I was seeing showed the "repin" button, which I couldn't find anywhere on my Pinterest account.

Do you know what these Pinterest terms mean - "Pinned by pinner", "Pinned from [site name here]", "Uploaded by", "Added by [Username here] via [someone else's Pinterest username]"? Tried searching for them, but couldn't find much info either. Thanks 😃.

Kasman replied to FreyaYuki on January 11, 2015, 3:09 PM:
FreyaYuki - there are lots of tutorials on YouTube. Search for 'Pinterest for beginners'.

crowntower wrote on January 10, 2015, 3:31 PM:
I am so sorry I have no idea about pinterest, but you can find it just google it, or gets instruction from their website. Just find something in the you tube ith tutorial on how to plus a video where to go and click to repin it.

FreyaYuki replied to crowntower on January 11, 2015, 2:50 PM:
I mentioned this in the post 😃. I already searched Google, but the info I found was outdated. The screenshot images on those articles showed a "repin" button, which no longer exists on the Pinterest site. Looks like no one has written new Pinterest guides for 2015.

MaeLou wrote on January 10, 2015, 3:40 PM:
I don't think the repin button exists anymore, so just "pin it" like you would something new on a site. I love pinterest but have noticed a decline in activity from the people I follow on there.

FreyaYuki replied to MaeLou on January 11, 2015, 2:57 PM:
Thanks 😃. I'm really new there, having just recently joined, so don't know much yet about how things work. Still learning and some stuff there can be kind of confusing. Do you know what these Pinterest terms mean - "Pinned by pinner", "Pinned from [site name here]", "Uploaded by", "Added by [Username here] via [someone else's Pinterest username]"? Thanks 😃.

amyk49 wrote on January 10, 2015, 4:08 PM:
I have a Pinterest account, but in all honesty I don't know much about it and rarely use it. All I know is that you have to have a picture in order to pin anything. That probably doesn't help you much :/

FreyaYuki replied to amyk49 on January 11, 2015, 2:59 PM:
That's okay. I'm really new to Pinterest, having just recently joined, so still trying to learn how things work there. It is kind of confusing, so I thought I'd ask and see if anyone knew anything.

Oceanblue wrote on January 10, 2015, 4:29 PM:
Hi, I see you have been given some great responses. We need to all be looking for a variety of online options.

FreyaYuki replied to Oceanblue on January 11, 2015, 3:09 PM:
Yeah. Looks like the "repin" button doesn't exist on Pinterest anymore, and, as others have said, to repin something, one must use the "pin it" button. Wonder why they changed it? Just made things confusing especially if they keep talking about how pinning and repinning are different.

peachpurple wrote on January 15, 2015, 1:07 AM:
when the P button pops up, you need to download or add the software into google chrome.

FreyaYuki replied to peachpurple on January 15, 2015, 10:41 AM:
You mean their app or bookmarklet or whatever they call it? Yeah, I heard about that too, and I saw some prompts when setting up my Pinterest account to download it, but am not interested in doing so. Looks like you can still pin even without it.

Questions About Pinterest

Tuesday, August 28, 2018
Do you have or do you know any articles about Pinterest? Do you know anything about this site? Care to share the location of these articles?

But only articles where the writer responds to the comments and questions because aren’t you sick of taking the time and effort to leave a relevant message or question to an article only to receive absolutely no response at all even after waiting for weeks? Looking for anyone who knows, can help, or has info about Pinterest?

pinterest, social media, visual bookmarking site, questions about pinning images, repin

The questions are:

What are you allowed to pin on Pinterest?

If you see an image with a pin it button, does that mean that you’re free to pin the pic or do you have to double-check if it’s copyrighted or whatever? Does everyone on Pinterest do that?

What are you allowed to repin on Pinterest?

If you see an image already pinned on the Pinterest website, are you allowed to repin that pic, assuming the original pinner already did their research and confirmed that the photo was okay to pin or do you have to double-check?

Where should the pinned pic on Pinterest link to?

If you see an image on an article and said pic is either in the public domain or has the creative commons license and you decide to pin that picture, where should the photograph link to? Should the pinned pic link back to the article where you found it or to the place where the article author found the pic (like flickr or Wikimedia Commons)?

Here are some of the comments from this article, back when it used to be posted elsewhere:

BarbRad wrote on December 18, 2014, 2:31 AM:
Many people refuse to pin work or have Pinterest accounts or allow pinning from their sites because they believe Pinterest members don't respect copyrights. Read the Pinterest terms of service and it should answer your questions about that. I know some people don't want their work pinned because they are afraid it will be stolen.

I personally like the site and i'm not afraid of it. It's a great place to pin the photos that appear in your articles. After you pin something, you will have the option of seeing it immediately. if you do that, you can open your pin in edit mode and you'll see the link target. You can change if if necessary. If there is copyright information you want people to see, you can put it into the description of the pin, as well as the link you'd like people to use. Keep in mind, though, that those who repin can change your description or your link when they edit it. Affiliate referrals don't always keep their codes intact.

FreyaYuki replied to BarbRad on January 3, 2015, 7:56 AM:
Thanks for the info. 😃 If I pin an image from an article, like the ones here on Persona Paper, and those images have the creative commons license or are in the public domain, where should the pin link to - the article on Persona Paper where I saw the image or where the image originally came from (for example, Wikimedia Commons, flickr, etc)?

BarbRad replied to FreyaYuki on January 4, 2015, 12:19 AM:
Just use pin-it to pin the photo and it should automatically link back to the article where it appeared. If it doesn't, you can change the link by editing the link. The article will have the photo credit.

FreyaYuki replied to BarbRad on January 4, 2015, 1:20 AM:
Ah, I see. Thanks 😃 I'm really new at this Pinterest stuff.

Ruby3881 wrote on December 18, 2014, 1:54 PM:
I don't see why people are so upset about pinning things on Pinterest, when sharing a link to Google+, Facebook, Tsu, etc. does exactly the same thing. If someone wants to steal work they'll do it, no matter where it's shared, or whether it's not shared at all.

As far as what you can or can't pin, anything that you want to share and that is appropriate can be pinned. Some content may violate the Pinterest terms, but I think most sites have the same rules about that. No p0rn or $exually explicit content, no glorifying drugs, tobacco products, alcohol, gambling, etc., no hate speech, no scams. Otherwise, it's probably safe. Do be careful to follow the rules of the site whose content you want to pin, as well. For example, Bubblews allows users to pin content - but only one pin per post.

The link should be taken care of by Pinterest if you're using their add-on. It automatically links to the page where the image is displayed. If you add a pin manually, that's where you should link too.

Hope that helps!

FreyaYuki replied to Ruby3881 on January 3, 2015, 8:16 AM:
Thank you. This does help. 😃 Just to clarify something though - for example, I see an image in an article here on Persona Paper and that image has the creative commons license or is in the public domain (for example, it could be located on flickr, deviantArt, Wikimedia Commons, etc) and I decide to pin that image manually. Where should that pin link to? Should it link to the article here on Persona Paper or should it link to the site where the image originally came from? Thanks.

Kasman wrote on December 18, 2014, 2:17 PM:
FreyaYuki, BarbRad, Ruby3881 - one of my connections on Pinterest has an interesting and useful guide about images on Pinterest. Go here: https://www.pinterest.com/vallain/pin-disclaimer/

Ruby3881 replied to Kasman on December 19, 2014, 7:05 AM:
I didn't find a guide there, though there was a disclaimer (twice - slightly different wording) and a useful tutorial for finding the original source of an image in a pin. Thanks for sharing! I hadn't found Virginia on Pinterest 😃

FreyaYuki replied to Kasman on January 3, 2015, 5:33 AM:
Thanks for the link. I checked it out but all I saw was what Ruby said below. Still, the tutorial for finding the original source of an image on Pinterest was useful.
